| Get BBC online TV outside the UK | |||||
![]() But using a simple method with a VPN or proxy server you can view BBC online TV outside the UK. The wonderful thing about a VPN tunnel is that it enables you to seem to be in the UK or the US ( or any other country ) - in a way that a proxy never could. Assorted companies supply a VPN provider - the one you use obviously depends on the nation's television shows you need to watch. The price of a good VPN service varies a good bit, but the one I use costs under 7 Euros a month, so it won't cost a bomb. If you use the the VPN tunnel your IP address will stop to be Australian or American or wherever you are now based. As far as any system knows, once the connection's live - you seem to be from the country of the destination VPN. I'm English, but i live in USA and I use VPNs to get access to the BBC online TV outside the UK. The BBC have, in their infinite knowledge, restricted access to BBC online TV outside the UK. When I would like to view or download something from the BBC online TV catalogue, I just connect the VPN tunnel and start downloading. It truly is that straightforward. The same rules work for the other UK TV companies. Whether it is the BBC online TV outside the UK, ITV Catchup or Channel 4 on Demand, with a VPN I'll access it all. Its not just UK channels either, you can watch television from the States for the very same cost of under $10 a month. All in all its a bit of a bargain! | Watching BBC iPlayer Abroad with UK Proxy | |||||
|
You may have realized that when you're outside the
UK, you can't access the BBC Iplayer abroad. The
reason is that the BBC uses something by the name
of Geolocation to limit viewing to express users.
Basically what the BBC IPlayer site does is look
at your IP address and compare it to a database to
establish where you are surfing from. If the database announces that your iP address is not registered in the United Kingdom you will get blocked. It's worth trying though, a few of these IP databases are out of date and may wrongly place you in the UK even if you're not. For instance there's quite a chunk of French IP addresses that get listed as UK addresses and these can play BBC Iplayer without Problems. So what can you do if your IP address is listed as being outside of the UK, are the BBC Iplayer pleasures like Formula One and Match of the day denied you? Well there is hope |
